Block II: Videos online this week

Moral of this story:

Two of the most legit pow movies of the season came out last week (also see Umami)

Movies

Who Cares - Charles Reid

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G70X75gTEb4&t=76s

BC Canadians are the real deal. You can tell that just from hearing charles reid in that interview. If you live and ride in BC, and you’re at the highest level your shit is no joke. You can rip a sled. You can throw double corks off backcountry booter, You know how to ride in avalanche conditions. You’re a boss in the backcountry. I know this, you know this, this is a known fact.

The crazy thing to me is seeing Joy, and more specifically Overjoy which really laid out the backstory to what the movie Joy is and how these guys who are at the top of the game in competitive snowboarding were able to take it to the backcountry. Obviously they had mentors in certain spots. Iguchi and Carter in Jackson, Danny Davis in Tahoe. What we are witnessing here is a passing of the torch if you ask me. It would be amazing to see the crew from Who Cares link up with the Riders from Joy and see what kind of crazy shit would come out of that.

Sunokero Korua pow movie Japan - snorkel

https://vimeo.com/367935705

Every shot is framed so well that you could pause it at any moment and there you would have a photo you could mount on the wall of your chalet. If there’s one thing we cant count on year after year is footage coning out of Japan. The Korua crew was able to showcase the vibe and feel of the ride in Japan. Utilizing camera angles that highlight the depth of the snow and the placement of the trees as much as characters as the snowboarders themselves.

Overjoyed

The making of the movie Joy. Aired on the World of X-Games on ABC.

Future Mystic

Brandon Cocard and Mike Rav's movie.

Correction: Helgasons did not win a Norwegian snowboard award because they are not norwegian. They are from Iceland. Sorry bros. (Mark: I thought everyone knew that.)
